Rebecca Bomann, founder of Selling Advantage for Senior Homeowners™, witnessed
first-hand how difficult it can be for seniors to sell their home.
Her grandfather was 82, and the task of selling his home was a long and
arduous one. He did not have the physical energy to get the house “ready for
sale”, or to keep up on the housework and landscaping while buyers were coming
to view his home.
Months dragged by, and her grandfather experienced unexpected visits during his
naps, pushy buyers, and the challenges of health issues that compromised his
strength and time. |

Rebecca’s family helped her grandfather in every way they could, but it was
clear that the sale had not been easy on him. The distance of the family to his
house made it difficult to be there and help him through a successful sale.
In the years that followed, Rebecca came into contact with other seniors who
were facing the decision to downsize and sell their home. Each time, it was
clear that the senior was experiencing a great deal of stress from not knowing
how the sale would turn out.
There were other instances where the senior’s home had to be updated for the
sale, disrupting the senior’s daily life and turning their precious home into a
real estate “product”. In still another case, the buyer gave the senior very
little time to pack up and move, sending the senior into a race against time to
pack up 30 years of living and raising a family.
Later, when Rebecca began working in real estate, she discovered how simple it
was to tailor the sale of a property around the needs of the seller. In one
transaction after another, Rebecca worked directly with the seller to
custom-make the sale of their home – on their time frame, with few intruders,
and without having to work on the home to make it ready.
It became very clear that seniors, as respected members of our community,
should have the option to sell their home in this very same way. Rebecca began
to work with members of the senior care community to fashion a program that
would be exclusive to seniors, allowing them an easy transition in the sale of
their home. The sale of the home would be crafted with the utmost of respect,
kindness, and integrity towards the senior.
The goal of Selling Advantage for Senior Homeowners is to make the SASH Program
a viable option for all senior homeowners.
